Thank You Tapers

Rob Eaton puts a great deal of work into the crispy sound board recordings on his off time so thanks go to all of you who buy the bands official releases. Rob only spends time working on the best sounding shows because he cares about releasing the best we have to offer with the limited time he has to master recordings. You can find what we have available here: http://www.livedownloads.com/live-music/3,291/Dark-Star-Orchestra-mp3-flac-downloads.html

But this blog isn't just a commercial for our official releases. This blog is about giving a big thank you to all you tapers who took time to bring your rig out and tape the shows. I know there are many who enjoy listening to your recording. Much thanks go to you!

A quick lesson on how to easily find shows of audience DSO recordings through our setlists page for those who don't already know:

If you go to our setlists page from our website, ( http://www.darkstarorchestra.net/NEWSITE/HTML/dso.php?sec=setlists ) show that have available audience recordings have a little CD icon or a speaker icon to the right of the show listing. Just click on the icon and it will take you to a recording of the show. Most of the time it is a link to http://www.archive.org/ where tapers post their recording. Usually, a player is available where you can instantly listen. The camera icon will bring you to pictures and even some links to youtube videos. I know there are other places to find audience recording but I can't keep track of all of them and I may miss some on archive as well so if any tapers (or audience members) who would like me to link recordings (or recordings you may find) to our setlist page, just send me an email with a link to rdenglish@sbcglobal.net

Happy listening and thanks again,
Dino

  1. Hey Rob E,

I have ton of HD video from the Fall west coast tour and NYE and more..... You guys rocked the Regency in SF and Crystal Bay this fall., El Rey etc. Remember those trippy LED or PLasma lights they had at the casino walls during the show. They are beautiful in HD. WOW! . It's fun to mix the HD with the soundboards you folks officially put out on youngster or at the show table as well as, the bootlegs as you point out in your blog entry. Got some great stuff from their. Won $150 during Tennessee Jed" too. You could hear you guys all loud and clear at the first craps table:) I dido the tapers comment, and if you would like a DVD copy of the west coast tour stuff I shot, it is real raw right now, but i get it to you. Seriously. It's yours. I,m just glad you all don't stop me. I need to dance so I just tape certain songs maybe 3 -4 a night and capture stills and the audience. Never Whole shows. I'll bring some out to Mexicali in a few weeks. I'm bringing one for Barraco anyhow. Marissa and I hit a lot of DSO shows, so you may know us distantly. Hopefully for the good things. So to promote you guys more this spring and summer at Furthur and Donna, where I am selling as much DSO stuff as GDP and my own art. That say's says something about your band! And HELL NO, I will not call you a cover band. What you folks do (if you know somethings about music) is improvise there songs . I feel like you are getting to the point of where the music is playin' you cats! Not that this is not hard work. One more thing on my rant blog entry.... And DSO's Music (with or without John K) because you let it happen and just viciously underrated in the music world today. That wont change I don’t think as the world is stuck on “Cover Band”, but you all have done the most to break the mold. Godspeed to ya mate and hey, we all know what you really are.......but just can't point my finger on it. I guess it doesn’t matter anyway... Good Morning,

    Peace, Lenny (Deadhead) H.W.A
